Otolaryngology Department
The ENT Department of "IZMIRLIAN" MEDICAL CENTER has been operating since 1998. The head of the department was S. Zh. Pkhrikyan. Since December 2004, the department has been headed by V.G. Stepanyan.
In addition to typical ENT surgeries (tonsillectomy, septoplasty, surgeries of additional nasal cavities, etc.), functional endoscopic surgeries of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, reconstructive and plastic microsurgery of the head and neck region are also performed.
Since 2005, surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and snoring - uvulopalatopharyngoplasty - has been carried out in Armenia. After acquiring a radiofrequency generator by the Medical Center, it became possible to affect the nose and throat regions with this radiation in case of mild forms of apnea. This generator is also used during other surgeries. ENT-oncology occupies a unique place.
In addition to extended laryngectomy with ligation of the main vessels, the department also implements organ-preserving operations on the larynx.
Since 2006, voice restoration has been performed through prosthetics. To date, 156 patients have been able to communicate and return to their daily lives.
